Nishi-Hongan-ji Temple Opening

I went to Nishi-Hongan-ji Temple, the Shin Busshism sect, to see its special opening only in this season. Its main hall is amazingly magnificent! This temple has several events in this year to commemorate the 750's memorial of the high priest Shinran's death.


The Shoin style building of Nishi-Hongan-ji has a lot of treasures such like the noh stage constructed by a famous shogun Toyotomi Hideyoshi, the transom windows with the elaborate patterns, the sliding doors paintings etc. I felt the Japanese Buddhism arts are so great!


This is a Chinese style gate called Karamon.

Special Opening : until April 15th, free of charge

昨日、西本願寺の特別拝観に行きました。

初めて入った書院は、日本の仏教美術に改めて敬意を感じる程素晴らしいものでした。襖絵や欄間はもちろんですが、他の寺院ではあまり見られない、徳川家康も鑑賞したらしい、能舞台はとても厳かな雰囲気で、何かこう、身の引き締まるような光景でした。撮影禁止だったのでここでお見せできないのが残念ですが、今年は親鸞聖人の７５０年遠忌を記念して様々な催しが開かれるようなので、また拝観の機会があることでしょう。

金閣，銀閣と並ぶ日本三大閣の一つである、飛雲閣も見て来ましたが、私は三大閣の中では、この飛雲閣が一番好きかもしれません。いつも見れないのが残念です。昔の素晴らしい建築物を現代の私たちは、畏敬の念を持って眺めていますが、何百年後、昔の建物はすごかったんだなーと現代に造られた建物を未来の人達は思うのでしょうか？例えば、安藤忠雄とか？それを考えると、昔の美意識や技術ってすごかったんだなーと思います。

Queen of sakura

I was invited the hanami party at Maruyama park, in the eastern side of Gion, yesterday.

This is the most popular park where Japanese people held the hanami party.

I don't like this place very much because it's too crowded and too touristy.

And one more reason I have is that I don't want to see the weak queen of sakura, photo above.

When I saw her yesterday, it looked really..really sad.

She used to be a glorious queen when I was a collage student.

Of course she has been aged, but I don't think it is only a reason that she has declined.

Waao.. look at her shape at night!

She is still gorgeous.

I realized that she has been living for human beings.

People enjoy a party under the queen.

Does she feel her life was happy or not?

I imagine she feels so sleepy at night time.

昨日、カフェの頃から内装でお世話になっている、デザイン事務所のNADAさんの花見にお邪魔しました。

場所は円山公園。数年前より名物の枝垂れ桜が弱っているニュースや写真を見て、どうも足が向かわなかったのですが、今回、何年かぶりに訪れました。

一番上の写真を見てどう思いますか？

私はものすごく悲しくなり、思わず目を伏せました。彼女の泣いている声が聞こえるようでした。私が学生の頃の、彼女のたくましくゴージャスな姿を知っているから尚更です。

あたりが暗くなると、とても強いライトなのでしょう。みるみるうちに彼女の姿が強く美しく夜空に映えて行きます。あー、美しい。

私は悟りました。彼女はこれまでもそしてこれからもずっと、わたしたち人間の為に生きているのです。それが彼女の運命なのでしょう。

自身の人生が幸せだったか否か、それは彼女にしかわからない。

しかし、夜は眠いだろうなぁ、、って思うのです。

Tea room opening

Shusui-tei tea room is opening to public only on Friday, Saturday and Sunday.

It's located on the southwest corner of the Palace, the photo above is the sign of the entrance.

It's rustic, built about 200 years ago by Kujo family, and so tranquil.

Fortunately I could see a real bride inside the room. Their wedding costumes are traditional and the white kimono of the bride is breathtakingly beatutiful!

Shusui-tei tea room 拾翠亭

9:30-15:30 on Fri, Sat & Sun Admission ¥100

京都御所南西角にある、拾翠亭が３月から金土日、一般公開しています。

江戸時代の九条家の茶室でした。200年前の厳粛な茶室がしっかりと維持されています。

今日たまたま入ったら、結婚式の撮影をしていました、本物！白無垢は綺麗ですねー。

ゆっくり出来ます。

"Futaba-Aoi" Japanese plant

Have you ever seen the Aoi-matsuri festival, one of the 3 major festivals in Kyoto, annually held on May ? This Aoi word was derived from the Japanese original plant Aoi.

Kyoto prefecture collected the fund for protect the cultural or environmental properties of Kyoto in the end of last year. I contributed.

And then I've given the right to be an owner to grow the futaba-aoi plants.

Wao, I am very pleased to grow them because my favorite hobby is gardening!

Yesterday I picked them at Kamigamo-jinjya Shrine, which organizes the Aoi-matsuri festival.

This shrine is worth to visit! You could imagine the scene of the olden days, which the kimono costumed people would play a poem game at the side of a stream.

葵祭を見た事がありますか？

参加している人々が必ず身につけている緑の葉っぱがあります。それが葵祭の名の由来である、葵の葉です。

昨年末、京都府が環境、文化財保護の寄付金を府民に募集していたのを見つけ、少ない金額で恐縮ですが寄付しました。寄付した人の中から、今では希少価値であるフタバアオイの株を育てるオーナーになる権利が当たるのですが、ラッキーな事に当たっちゃったので、昨日上賀茂神社に株を頂きに行きました。

お恥ずかしながら上賀茂神社は初めてでしたが、ものすごく良いところですね。平安時代に昔の人達がゆっくりと境内を歩いている姿が自然に浮かんでくるような、不思議な空気が流れている場所です。

頂いた２株のうち、１株は来年の葵祭用に上賀茂神社に返しに来なければいけません。大事に、大きく育てて行きます！
